Detailing a typical curved, in-situ,
Bridge Deck, with MultiREBAR.
This web page will lead you to a series of online videos which demonstrate how MultiREBAR is used on a typical bridge detailing example, an in-situ r.c. bridge deck.
It takes you step by step through the process and shows how the detailed drawing and schedules are produced, and the various techniques required along the way. If you require more detail on using MultiREBAR then see the rest of the MultiREBAR Video Tutor which is available via the web or on DVD.
The example uses the BS8666:2005 detailing standard but many other standards are supported in MultiREBAR, as shown in the first video.
MultiREBAR Demonstration and Training Videos
Movie 1.0 is a sample movie to illustrate the Video Tutor teaching method.
1.0 Drawing Setup/choosing the Detailing Standard (6:00)
> Introduction and approach to bridge deck detailing
> Drawing layout and scale area setup using MultiSCALE
> Choosing your Detailing Standard with MultiSUITE prefences (MP) command
> Toolbar layout

Defining the concrete outline and covers first, simplifies placement of the reinforcement.
2.0 Outline Geometry of Bridge Deck and Cover Lines (6:30)
> Ways of creating Outline Geometry, and importance of layering
> Using Calculators toolbar for Cover Offsets, and setting out points
> Default covers set in Outline Configuration
> Concrete outlines used by MultiREBAR in automatic offsetting
3.0 Defining the deck as a Member in the Drawing (3:30)
> Importance of Member definition, and what it is used for
> Creating the first Bending Schedule
> Positioning the Schedules
> Preliminary assessment of reinforcement required in cross section
4.0 Adding User Defined Bars to the Library (2:45)
> Procedure for adding non-standard bars (SC99) to the MultiREBAR Library > Drawing shape outline and dimensioning shape
> Options when creating 99 bars > Creating a central library for all users
> Once added to the library, they never need to be defined again
5.0 Bar Detailing and Scheduling: bars on section (7:00)
> Detailing Top bars on section : adding bars to "Stockyard" for bar mark clarity
> Adding Straight Bars
> All code requirements such as minimum bend radius and bob lengths are checked and warnings given if violated

6.0 Detailing and Scheduling Shape Code 99 bar (3:30)
> A SC 99 bar only has to be defined once in the system
> Special bend radiuses can be defined if required
> A fully dimensioned sketch of the bar will be added to the schedule

Bars of any shape can easily be defined and added to the Library for use by any users on the network . They are scheduled automatically using a full dimensioned sketch as shown.

7.0 Adding Links to Cross Section (3:00)
> SC 51 and 56 are illustrated
> Adding links to horizontal outline is preferred
> Bars are offset inside cover lines automatically
> Links will be called off on Plan View of deck

8.0 Bar Detailing/Scheduling on Plan - Fanned Bars (6:30)
> Using Curved Range Markers for calling off bars
> MultiREBAR calculates total number of bars required and schedules them

9.0 Bar Detailing and Scheduling: on Plan - Radial Bars (5:30)
> Using MultiREBAR to calculate and split bars into ranges over long distances
> Using Manual Detailing Method where non-true bars are detailed > Dealing with Curved bars detailed as Straight Bars for large radii >50m
10.0 Adding Section views of bars to Section B-B (3:00)
> Using the cross section commands
> Labelling cross section bar views

MultiREBAR can also be used on all other bridge related detailing such as Pile Caps, Abutments, Retaining Walls etc. This triangular pile cap requires varying length bars to be calculated which is a standard feature in MultiREBAR, and is covered in detail elsewhere in our MultiREBAR Video Training.
